Everything you need to know about Real Festival 2018

Real Festival is back 2-3 November. It’s time to get excited.

With the launch of Real Festival 2018 this week the countdown has officially begun. If you haven’t already popped the dates in your calendar, we suggest you do that now because you do not want to miss a moment of this year’s event.

As in previous years, the event is set to transform Penrith’s beautiful Nepean River. This year, the program and entertainment will lift the bar in terms of activities and experiences for the whole family. And did we mention it’s all for free? I know. Amazing.

What’s returning?

All the best bits including food trucks, illuminated and interactive artworks, roaming entertainment, spectacular stage shows and river activities including kayaking, stand up paddle boarding and cruises on the Nepean Belle Paddlewheeler.

The new stuff is worth getting excited about as this year the riverbank comes alive in jam-packed zones of curated experiences. What sort of zones? What sort of experiences? I’m glad you asked.

An Outdoor Bar

Set right next to the river, the bar gets you in the festival mood with good views, music and a great atmosphere to relax with family and friends. It sounds a bit fancy. You need to make sure you get amongst it.

UnReal Zone

Don’t be fooled, it’s most definitely real. This area is for kids (0-10 yrs old) who like to explore, play, and create things. There’s a glow-in-the-dark ball pit, Russ the story bus, a mobile playvan and even a puppy cafe (just BYO dog!).

Kids Stage

This area provides the ultimate in kid’s entertainment. There’s Jurassic sized fun with Erth’s acclaimed Dinosaur Zoo show and after-dark the Owl’s Apprentice Shadow Puppet Show (a super cute story of a young owl learning to be wise) lights up the stage.

Create Space

Hands are kept busy and imaginations can go wild here. This is where kids (5-18yrs) can make and create until their little hearts are content; origami, bookmarks, painting, or designing their own digital masterpiece using computers and projections.

Adventure Zone

There’s fun for everyone here with a rock climbing wall, a trapeze school and playful circus activities. Yes, that’s right you can learn how to fly through the air and be the circus star you always wanted to be. See, dreams really do come true!

Enviro World

Everyone’s favourite gardener Costa Georgiadis is back because he loves Penrith and we love him. He’ll give hints and tips and basically make gardening fun. This is where you sip on coffee from a cone at the funky and sustainable rooftop cafe, and create sustainable artworks.

With so much to see and do, you really should start planning your time at Real Festival now and get onto Facebook and follow Real Festival 2018 so you can keep up to date with news. The countdown is on.
